The PhotonLab is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST) and Munich Quantum Valley (MQV). Since 2011, more than 2,000 students have been experimenting there every year on 20 different experimental setups on the subject of light and lasers. This Friday there was reason to celebrate, as the PhotonLab welcomed its 22,222nd visitor. The mark of 3,000 visitors in one year was also broken for the first time on the same day for 2024. Congratulations from Munich Quantum Valley on this great success!
Munich Quantum Valley supports the PhotonLab with personnel and with the development of new materials and workshops for students and teachers. The expanded digital offer brings the experiments of the school lab to the students' homes with virtual, interactive lab books. The MQV has also acquired a hands-on single photon experiment to expand the PhotonLab's wide range of activities in the direction of quantum science.
You can find more information on all the activities offered by the student lab on the PhotonLab website.
