At the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Materials Engineering of the University of Augsburg the Center for Electronic Correlations and Magnetism announces a
Professorship of Grade W2 with Tenure Track to W2 (m/f/d) for Theoretical Physics – Quantum Simulation, Quantum Optics, and Quantum Control.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date, initially for a duration of six years. In case of a positive tenure evaluation the position will be tenured at a grade W2. Applications from early-career scientists are particularly encouraged.
This professorship is funded jointly by the University of Augsburg and the Munich Quantum Valley.
The University of Augsburg is searching for a candidate in the field of the theory of quantum matter with an outstanding track record. The candidate is expected to further develop the topical and methodical research at the Center for Electronic Correlations and Magnetism at the interfaces between quantum many-body systems of condensed matter, quantum simulation, and quantum optics with the goal to achieve quantum control of correlated quantum matter through light-matter coupling. The active as well as competitive acquisition of third- party funding and the participation in collaborative research initiatives are expected.
This professorship position includes appropriate participation in student education (Bachelor, Master and secondary school teaching) at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Materials Engineering.
Employment requirements are a relevant university degree, teaching skills, the ability to pursue scientific work which is generally demonstrated by a doctorate, as well as the habilitation or proof of equivalent scientifically relevant achievements such as in the context of a junior professorship or a group leader position.
