New project: Quantum Physics for All!

GALaQSci uses augmented reality and artificial intelligence to make the quantum world accessible in a playful way.

Quantum technologies continue to grow in their potential impact on industry and society. At the same time, the underlying quantum phenomena and concepts are highly abstract and non-intuitive in comparison to everyday phenomena. The new project Gamified and AI-assisted Learning for Quantum Technologies (GALaQSci) aims to make this complex field accessible to everyone. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with 1.7 million euros, the project is a collaboration between the Faculty of Physics at LMU, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics. MQV, together with the Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST), serves as an outreach partner for the collaborative project and is responsible for the dissemination of project results and engagement with target audiences.

The game is also being enhanced with a version for augmented reality (AR). This will allow the game to reach its target audiences both as a platform-independent smartphone app and as an AR version. The AR version will offer a haptic and physical experience with virtually enhanced real-world experiments.
