The industry and book exhibition of the DPG spring conference of the section Atoms, Molecules, Quantum Optics and Photonics (SAMOP) took place from March 11 to 13. Almost 2000 international physicists, primarily students, attended the conference and had the opportunity to find out about the quantum research landscape in Bavaria and career opportunities in the MQV network at the MQV booth. There was particular interest in the MQV doctoral fellowships. Another highlight was the presentation of the Georg Kerschensteiner Prize to Silke Stähler-Schöpf. The head of the PhotonLab student laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics, which is also supported by the MQV, was honored for her outstanding achievements in teaching physics.
At the DPG Spring Conference of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM), which took place in Regensburg again this year, the MQV also attracted the keen interest of the numerous visitors. In the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, this topic was particularly in focus. “Let's build the quantum quantum future together” was also the motto on the DPG conference bags that each participant receives as a welcome gift, and which were printed with the MQV slogan for the first time this year. The DPG Spring Meeting of the SKM is the largest of the four DPG Spring Meetings and attracts thousands of researchers from all over the world every year. This makes it regularly the largest physics congress in Europe.
