PushQuantum QEI Workshop

The inaugural Quantum Energy Initiative (QEI) event, organized by PushQuantum, aims to raise awareness and encourage a collaborative approach to assessing the physical resource costs of quantum technologies.

PushQuantum is a Munich-based student club that offers real-world focused education in quantum technology for students of all disciplines. PushQuantum Climate is concerned with ensuring the longevity of quantum technologies in the times of the climate crisis. Their goal is to make certain that quantum, in and of itself, has a net positive impact on our planet. That it is at least not part of the problem.

The QEI is a consortium of distinguished researchers dedicated to exploring the scaling of quantum technologies in terms of energy consumption and resource costs. These discussions are increasingly critical, and by drawing on historical technological developments, these considerations can be integrated early enough to influence the design of future quantum technologies. A dialog on these issues will be initiated with the goal of establishing a 'performance per Watt' benchmark for quantum computing. This benchmark is important to concretize energy performance claims, enable comparison across quantum platforms, HPC and experiments, and foster innovative improvements.

Participants in the event would make valuable contributions to the discussions and receive constructive insights to integrate into their research. The Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) will also be present.
