The Garching Research Campus is one of the largest centers for science, research and teaching in Germany. Numerous institutions, including Max Planck and Fraunhofer Institutes, as well as various faculties of the Technical University of Munich and many more, will open their doors on 3 October to give visitors an exclusive insight into the diversity and excellence of research. The Open Day is deliberately timed to coincide with action day "Türen auf mit der Maus" ("Open Doory with the Mouse") of the popular WDR children's program, which takes place every year on 3 October and allows children in particular to take a look behind otherwise closed doors. The joint program offers something for every age!
This year, Munich Quantum Valley will be located at the LRZ with tours, lectures and hands-on experiments. Interested visitors of all ages are welcome to learn more about high-performance and quantum computing, how they are connected and in which areas future quantum computers could be used. Components of a real quantum computer make the abstract topic tangible. Cool, quantum-related pin buttons, which we will press together, will be a great souvenir.
Lectures
MQV and the LRZ are offering a joint lecture program in the LRZ lecture hall - from artificial intelligence to quantum computing, there will be exciting insights into current research [in German].
10:00 – 10:30 | Faszination Quantencomputer (Prof. Dr. Rabl) |
11:00 – 11:30 | Wie baut man eigentlich einen Quantencomputer? (Dr. Andrea Alberti) |
13:00 – 13:30 | Von Bits zu Qubits – Ein Blick in die Welt der Quantencomputer (Dr. Judith Gabel) |
14:00 – 14:30 | Barocke Deckenmalerei & Virtual Reality (Dr. Matteo Burioni) |
15:00 – 15:30 | Wie viel Strom braucht KI? (Prof. Dr. Kranzlmüller) |
16:00 – 16:30 | Social Engineering – Sitzt die größte Gefahr vor dem Computer? (Prof. Dr. Reiser) |
The Open House and Maustag at LRZ is embedded in a variety of activities for young and old at the entire Garching Research Campus. For all events, please visit the overview page [in German]: https://forschungscampus-garching.de/. Some activities require prior registration.
Many other members and partners of Munich Quantum Valley are also taking part in this year's Open Day with their own program. Details can be found on the respective websites of the institutes:
- Leibniz Supercomputing Centre
- Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics
- Walter Schottky Institute
- Walther Meißner Institute
- Munich Center for Quantum Science and Technology
